New Mrs. Nebraska Has Ties to Elgin

kh-bw“She won!”

Two simple words that came via a phone call on Sunday morning have caused a stir in the Paul and Charlotte Hoefer family.  That Sunday call from their son Brian Hoefer let them know the results of Saturday evening’s Mrs. Nebraska pageant held in Omaha. Brian’s wife, Karalyn, was crowned Mrs. Nebraska 2011 after two years of being first runner-up in the pageant.

According to Paul, Karalyn had stated that this was it…if she didn’t win, she wasn’t going to compete again. A lot of time, a lot of commitment goes into competition in pageants, in her case including serving as a chaperone for Miss Arizona in the Miss America pageant held in Las Vegas. Miss Nebraska was crowned Miss America at the conclusion of that pageant.

Karalyn is a realtor with Woods Bros. Realty while Brian is a Lincoln police officer.

The Hoefers, who reside in Friend, NE, have two daughters, one in college in Lincoln and one a sophomore at Friend High School.

Mrs. Hoefer will now be preparing for the Mrs. America pageant to be held in West Virginia in April.
