More Election Filings; Two Seats On City Council Open

A large number of incumbents filed for re-election at the Antelope County Courthouse in the last couple of days
New filings reported Tuesday were:
• Incumbent Joseph Abler for Antelope County Attorney
• Incumbent Sandy Knapp for Antelope County Treasurer
• Incumbents Steve Heithoff (4 year term) and Stan Heithoff (2 year term) for the District #18 Board of Education
• Incumbent Maurice M. Soper for the Antelope County Airport Authority
• Eddie J. Schindler of Neligh filed for District #5 Supervisor
Others who have filed are:
School District #18 — Incumbents’ Steve Busteed and Robert Hoefer.
Elgin Mayor Mike Schmitt has filed for re-election.
Heather McWhorter, county assessor, has filed for re-election.
Sheriff Robert Moore was among the first to file for re-election.
Judith Cole, Clerk of the District Court has filed for re-election.
County Supervisors filing for re-election are LeRoy Kerkman (District #7), Jerald Schwager (District #1) and Neil Williby (District #3).
Lisa Payne has filed for Antelope County Clerk.
Antelope County Airport Authority incumbent Brian Whitesel will seek re-election.
So to, seeking re-election, will be incumbents Robert Hofacker of Elgin and Robert Lewis of Neligh to the Antelope County Weed Control Board.
Two incumbents on the Elgin City Council, Ward I City Councilperson Shirley Nissen and Ward II Councilman Ken Jochum, did not file for re-election.
District #18 school board member Ryan Reestman did not file for re-election.
Non-incumbents will now have until Monday, March 3, to file for election.
