Mitchell Named Judicial Branch ‘Employee of the Year’

It’s not every day one is recognized by their peers for being an ‘Employee of the Year.’

On Friday, Elgin’s own Linda Mitchell, Assistant Clerk I, at the Antelope County Court, Neligh, was so honored during the Nebraska Supreme Court’s third annual recognition event.

The award recognizes one employee for his or her performance, professionalism, loyalty and other accomplishments that exemplify the values and professional standards of the Judicial Branch in his or her daily work.

Chief Justice of the Nebraska Supreme Court, Mike Heavican, presented Mitchell the award at ceremonies held in Lincoln.

“Linda deserves this award, employee of the year, as thanks and recognition for the many years as an enthusiastic, loyal, forward thinking court employee,” said Barb Finn who nominated her for the award. “Her job title, court steno for the Antelope County Court, is misleading, as her service to the Seventh District and the entire State county court system extends far beyond the brick walls of the Antelope County Courthouse,” said Barb Finn in her letter of nomination.

The Employee Recognition Committee selected eight employees and an employee team from the nominations submitted for the Employee Recognition Awards.  Candidates for the awards were chosen and nominated by their supervisors and colleagues in the courts and probation offices where they work.

The purpose of the program is to provide a tool to recognize ongoing court and probation employee dedication, acknowledge exemplary contributions, and encourage employee commitment.
