Mark A. Knust, 81, of Albion, NE, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion, with Fr. Mark Tomasiewicz and Deacon Paul Weeder officiating.
Burial followed at the St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery, Raeville with military rites by American Legion Post #162, VFW Post #736 and the American Legion Riders.
Levander Funeral Home in Albion is in charge of arrangements.

Mark Aloys Knust, son of Michael and Josephine Elizabeth (Rollman) Knust, was born on October 19, 1936 in Humphrey, NE. He attended school at St. Francis School from 1942 – 1947.
In 1948, Mark moved with his family to Petersburg and he attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School until 1952. Mark was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 11, 1955 and served until his honorable discharge on October 10, 1957.
Mark was united in marriage to Joan Kay Petsche on October 25, 1956 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville.
The couple lived for one year in Lawton, OK, while Mark was in the service. Following his discharge, they moved to a farm one mile south of Raeville where they raised their six children.
In 1991, the couple moved to a farm two miles east and two miles south of Petersburg, and in October of 2006 they moved into Albion.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Boniface Council #2411 since 1955, and served on the Raeville District 45 school board for 21 years.
Mark is survived by his six children: Nancy (Bob) Luettel of Albion; Floyd (Ann) Knust of Neligh; Mark (Marcia) Knust, Jr. of Newman Grove; Jolene Day of Lincoln; Rita (Brian) Liss of Albion; Lee (Amy) Knust of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren: Kelly and Shane Eckhoff, and children Madisen, Lexie, and Landen; Amy and Jason Olnes, and children Taylor, Avery, and Dalton; Janelle and Ryan Tisthammer, and children Keiley, Karlie, and Sydney; Ashley and Ben Su, and daughter Addison; Andrew and Alicia Knust, and children Emma and Daniel; Jennifer and Will Henry, and children Liam, Jael, and Onyx; Jesse Knust; Bridget and Tanner Bollig; Jasper and Tamra Day; Leilani Day and son Korben; Kyle and Sarah Liss, and daughter Quinn; Kevin and Ashlyn Liss; Jordan Knust; and Justin Knust; four sisters: Lucille Kalinowski of Columbus; Lorraine Seier of Petersburg; Doris (Ken) Schrad of Elkhart, IN; Janet (Bob) Klein of Spalding; two brothers: Joe (Kate) Knust and John (Donna) Knust both of Petersburg; three sisters-in-law: Pat Grosserode of Lincoln; Marlyss Knust of Omaha; Diana Knust of Neligh; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Joan; four brothers: Arthur, William, Paul and David; two sisters: Mary Ellen Frauendorfer and Alice Pfeifer Ramaekers; and great-grandson: Noah Liss.
