She was baptized, confirmed and attended elementary school at St. Augustine’s in Halbur, IA graduating from the 8th grade. She then helped with the family dairy and worked at the Eischeid & Tiefenthaler grocery store. Margaret moved to Fort Worth, TX, after receiving word of the death of her fiancé, Vernon Bock, who was killed in action, on May 29, 1943, while serving in W.W.II. She spent a number of months in Texas and then returned to Iowa to help with the family farm.
On August 29, 1945, Margaret was united in marriage to Harold John Petsche at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville, NE. They lived their entire married life in the Raeville and Petersburg communities where they raised their family.  Margaret was a housewife, mother, and homemaker. In 1975 she began working at the Petersburg Lockers and continued until 1999.  Harold and Margaret moved from the farm to Petersburg in 1974. Harold passed away in March of 1985.
