Vetch Days Celebration Schedule Being Formulated

Little more than a month remains before the annual Vetch Days celebration will be held in Elgin.
On Monday night the Elgin Community Club took further steps to finalize a schedule for the celebration which will be held Monday through Wednesday, June 10-12. Approximately 24 persons attended the meeting held at the Steel Steed.
The first item discussed was the selection of the theme.  President Duane Esau led discussion of possible themes for the event. The club decided this year’s theme will be “Start Your Engines, Blow Your Horns, Rolling Into 2014” to signal the beginning of Elgin’s Q125 year.
As all know, this year’s event is earlier in June due to the contract with Richard’s Amusements (the carnival). The 3-day event will actually be kicked off a day earlier (June 9) with a Show & Shine car/motorcycle/pickup show along main street. Plans are to follow that up with the WingDing, hopefully to be held downtown also pending city approval.
