Transmission Line Public Hearing to be Next Week in Neligh

Two open houses will be hosted by Nebraska Public Power District next week concerning the development of a route for a new 345,000-volt transmission line between the District’s Hoskins substation located east of Norfolk in Stanton County, west to the Neligh area. The site for the new substation at Neligh has not been determined.
The line will enhance reliability of the transmission system, provide a high capacity line to north-central Nebraska, reduce existing system congestion to allow for better utilization of our generation resource mix, and provide for further wind development in the state.
The first open house, which will focus on a study area, is set for Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Northeast Community College’s Lifelong Learning Center, located at 801 E Benjamin Ave., Norfolk. A second open house will be Thursday, Oct. 25, at the American Legion Building located at 115 W. 3rd in Neligh, also from 2 to 8 p.m. A complete visit of the various project information stations will take about 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
