Supervisors Hear Update on New Jail

With the general election less than three weeks away, the Antelope County Board of Supervisors again found themselves immersed in matters involving a new county jail/law enforcement center.
A representative from the architectural firm of Prochaska & Associates, explained to the board their proposal to oversee construction of the new jail which is expected to be completed in the summer of 2014. Architect Steve Riley said the firm’s project fee to oversee construction of the facility is just over $447,000. Just what will the supervisors get for that amount? Riley said the fee includes designing the project, overseeing construction to make sure whoever is hired to build the jail/ceter follows specs. The fee includes making sure the work meets the standards set forth prior to construction. Riley said the architectural firm is now in the ‘design’ stage of the project.
