St. Boniface Awarded NAC Grant

ELGIN — St. Boniface Elementary School announced Monday that it has been awarded a grant of $625 by the Nebraska Arts Council.

This grant will support resident artist, Nancy K. Childs, in her week-long residency at the school. Ms. Childs will be working with the students of St. Boniface as they celebrate Catholic Schools Week.

Nebraska Arts Council’s Executive Director, Suzanne Wise, commended St. Boniface for it’s programs, noting that “St. Boniface does an outstanding job of providing arts activities in the Elgin area.

“It is through fine organizations like this that Nebraska’s children receive a better education in the arts, and the quality of life improves for all Nebraskans.”

Throughout the week the students will experience papermaking, color mixing with pulp, and casting along with other types of designing. It is completely hands on. Ms. Childs will work with each class individually, on a daily basis.

The projects that the students make will then be on display at the end of the week for the community to view.

The Nebraska Arts Council grants monetary resources to Nebraska’s nonprofit organizations for arts projects and programs in communities throughout the state.

This financial support is made possible by funds appropriated by the Nebraska Legislature, through competitive grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), a federal agency, and funds from the Nebraska Cultural Endowment (NCE).

Nebraskans wishing to learn more about NEA grants or the NCE should visit the NAC website at www.nebraskaartscouncil.org.
