More Than 1,600 Served at Bazaar

Just as their parents and grandparents have done before them, families came from near and far to attend the 87th annual Thanksgiving Bazaar in Elgin.

Sponsored by St. Boniface Catholic Church, the event is synonomous with celebrating Thanksgiving here.

This year was no exception as bright sunshine and warm temperatures made it easy for persons to travel to St. Boniface gymnasium for the celebration.

Workers began food preparation early in the morning so to be ready for the 11 a.m. start.

According to Michele Reicks, a total of 1,227 noon meals were served. In the evening, 440 meals were served. The total number of meals served was 1,667. She said the number was down 55 from one year ago.
