In a nod to youngsters who yearn for summer, the Elgin City Council Monday night announced the opening date for the swimming pool.
The pool will open for the season on Memorial Day, May 26. Workers are in the process of getting the pool ready for the season. Pool hours will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Season ticket prices (with tax) are $90 for family, $60 for individual. Daily admission will be $2.50 for the day (large pool admission).
The council breezed through the agenda and adjourned in just over 30 minutes. Absent from the meeting was Councilman Don Mackel.
