Council Approves New Subdivision

On a night when much of the nation was glued to their TV sets watching the national championship football game between Alabama and Notre Dame, Mayor Mike Schmitt, four members of the Elgin City Council and three members of the public gathered at city hall to conduct the city’s business for the month.
In a meeting which lasted slightly more than 30 minutes, the Council acted on a number of items.
Elgin business owner Janet Koinzan met with the council on two matters. First on the agenda was the Meadowbrook Subdivision located near Steepleview on the southwest edge of town. She said easements were added after visiting with city engineer John Zwingman.
Mayor Mike Schmitt said she may need to add sewage pumps to some of the homes when they are constructed. She said she would deal with that when that time comes.
Once it is approved, she said she will file it at the Antelope County Registrar of Deeds.
Ordinance #627 accepting the final plat of the Meadowbrook subdivision. The council suspended the mandatory three readings and approved it on a 4 to 0 vote.
