Leah L. Petsche, 81, formerly of Petersburg, NE passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society – Albion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE with Rev. Stan Schmit officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Raeville, NE.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with a 7:00 p.m. wake service. Huffman-Levander Funeral Home of Elgin, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Leah Lavonne Petsche, oldest of 12 children born to Leander Theodore and Rosella Marie (Werner) Petsche, was born December 9, 1934 on the family farm northeast of Raeville, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bonaventure Church in Raeville, NE and St. John Berchman’s School in Raeville. Following school, she lived at home, helping raise her younger siblings.
In 1985, Leah moved to Petersburg after the death of her father.
She had a passion for ceramics and spent a lot of time creating and painting them. She was a longtime member of St. Bonaventure Church and St. Bonaventure Christian Mothers in Raeville and after moving to Petersburg joined St. John the Baptist Church and St. John’s Altar Society.
Leah was a great cook and baker. She enjoyed making weekly Sunday dinners for her siblings and their families watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday evenings.
Some of her favorite times were spent on birthday trips with her sisters to Branson, MO and South Dakota.
Leah is survived by her 11 siblings: Joan (Mark) Knust of Albion; Ellen (Lawrence) Stuhr of Albion; Susie (Jerry) Borer of Petersburg; Ruth (Kenneth) Kerkman of Petersburg; Dave (LuAnna) Petsche of Denton, NE; Don (Shirley) Petsche of Petersburg; Mary (Joe) Henn of Petersburg; Joe (Evelyn) Petsche of Petersburg; Chuck (Pat) Petsche of Petersburg; Lori (Bob) Henn of Petersburg; Sharon (Bill) Ketteler of Albion; 41 nieces and nephews; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Randy Stuhr.
