Lawrence J. Pelster Sr., 92 of Petersburg, NE passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, February 15, 2013 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville, NE with Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating.
Interment followed in the parish cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post #334 of Petersburg.

Lawrence Pelster Sr. was born to Adolph and Sophie (VonBonn) Pelster on November 27, 1920 at Dalton, NE. They later moved to Elgin, NE where he attended rural schools and St. Boniface School. The family then moved to a farm near Raeville, NE where he was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.
He entered the service in June 1942 and participated in the Northern France and Normandy Campaigns. He was wounded in November 1944 and spent six months in the hospital. He earned the purple heart and two bronze stars and was honorably discharged in June 1945.
On April 26, 1949, Lawrence was married to Reola Klein at ST. Bonaventure Church in Raeville by Father Vincent Pelster. They made their home on a farm east of Petersburg and he was engaged in farming. He was an auctioneer and seed corn dealer for many years.
He was a member of American Legion Post #334 of Petersburg, NE and a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter 8 of Norfolk, NE.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Reola of Petersburg; six children and spouses: Diane (Don) Blazek of Valparaiso; Judy (Cliff) Lindholm of Lincoln; Larry (Cathy) Pelster of Petersburg; Linda (Tim) Iburg of Columbus; Mary (Carl) Church of Clarks; Gary (Karla) Pelster of Columbus; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Don (Rose) Pelster and Delmer (Pauline) Pelster, all of Petersburg; one sister: Berneda (Bill) Leifeld of Petersburg; one sister-in-law: Evelyn Pelster of Elgin; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Melvin and Clarence Pelster; and one sister Celestine Vacha.
