John L. “Jack” Pruden, 80 of Ewing, NE passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh, NE.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 (today) at the United Methodist-Presbyterian USA Church in Ewing, NE, with Pastor Eric Ford officiating.
Interment will follow at the Ewing Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Sanders Post #214 of Ewing.
Visitation will be one-hour prior to services at the church.

John Lee Pruden, son of James Lee and Edna Pearl (Tucker) Pruden, was born July 4, 1932 at Ewing, NE. He attended Ewing Public Elementary School and graduated from Ewing High School in 1950. He entered the United States Army on January 24, 1953 and received an honorable discharge December 24, 1954.
Jack was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Mutchler in November 1955 at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Ewing, NE. The couple made their home on the ranch south of Ewing, NE where they raised their son, Joel. In 1984, Jack moved off the ranch into Ewing where he resided until 2012.
Due to health problems, Jack spent the past few months in nursing homes and passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh, NE at the age of 80.
He was a member of the United Methodist-Presbyterian USA Church in Ewing, NE, American Legion Sanders Post #214, and the Masonic Lodge. Jack earned his private pilot’s license in 1948 and enjoyed flying his Piper Cub for many years. He will always be remembered for his dynamic storytelling abilities.
Jack is survived by his son Joel Pruden and wife Marvi; one grandson Brandon Pruden, all of Ewing, NE; nephew: James Burtwistle and wife Trish along with their children Samantha Jo and Charlie, all of O’Neill, NE, three cousins: Bob Pruden and wife Patricia, Neva Jones and husband Bob, all of O’Neill, NE; Melvin Pruden of Faytteville, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barb; two brothers: James “Farmer” Pruden and Robert Pruden; and a sister Fern Burtwistle.
