Helen A. Venteicher, 88, of Pierce died Friday, May 23, 2014, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Pierce, with burial in the parish cemetery and the Rev. Keith Rezac and Deacon John Starman officia-ting. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a rosary at 7 p.m. Stonacek Memorial Chapel is in charge.
She was born April 19, 1926, at Elgin to John and Mary (Beckman) Starman. She attended school at St. Boniface in Elgin.
She was married to Anton H. Venteicher. They farmed southwest of Pierce. They retired and moved to Pierce in 1981, and she remained living in Pierce until January 2014. She became a resident at St. Joseph’s Care Center in Norfolk on Jan. 15, 2014. Helen enjoyed gardening, flowers, walking and spending time with family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Pierce, Altar Society, Legion of Mary and Christian Mothers.
Survivors are her children, Lyle and wife Denise Venteicher of Pierce, Ann Marie Venteicher of Norfolk, Monica and husband Don Talbott of Norfolk, Marlene and husband Robert Thiessen of Clearwater, Arnold and wife Pat Venteicher of Pierce, Joyce and husband Todd Schmidt of Norfolk; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine and husband Ronnie Hemenway of Clearwater; brother Herman Starman of Grand Island and sister-in-law Eleanor Starman of Neligh; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton Venteicher, May 2, 1997; her parents; brother Edward Starman; and a sister-in-law Joan Starman.
Music was provided by organist Mrs. Celine Fehringer and the St. Joseph’s Choir. They performed: “Be Not Afraid”, “On This Day O Beautiful Mother”, “Hail Mary Gentle Woman” and “On Eagles Wings”
Casket bearers were grandsons D.J. Talbott, Kent Talbott, Michael Venteicher, Brian Thiessen, Justin Schmidt, Aaron Thiessen, James Thiessen and Mark Venteicher.
Honorary bearers were granddaughters Lisa Bahns, Peggy Venteicher, Mary Venteicher, Andrea Winfield, Cheryl Venteicher, Kathy Venteicher, Jessica Schmidt, Laurie Venteicher, Amy Venteicher, Brenda Venteicher and Susan Venteicher.
