Heithoffs Compete at Class D State Golf Tournament

NORTH PLATTE — Wolfpack golfers Nick and Andrew Heithoff gained valuable experience competing in the Class D State Golf Tournament last week at Iron Eagle Golf Club. The 36-hole, two-day tournament concluded Wednesday with Franklin winning the team title with a score of 705. Finishing second was Alma at 718 followed by West Point CC 740, Medicine Valley 775, Fullerton 776, Pleasanton 777, Friend 780, Creighton 786, Ewing 786, Niobrara-Verdigre 802, Mullen 802, Humphrey St. Francis 815, Loomis 820, Garden County 845 and Creek Valley 858.

Medalist at the tournament was senior Bernard Eilerts of West Point CC who finished with a 36-hole score of 158, ten strokes better than junior Sage Platt of Franklin. Other players who finished in the top 15 were:

5th — Trevor Jasa, Lewiston 172; and Jimmy Sindelar, Alma 172

7th — Matthew Huston, Loomis 174

8th — Brendan Johnsen, Medicine Valley 177

9th — Samuel Simonson, Heartland Lutheran 178; Jacob Siel, Franklin 178

11th — Jarod Spurlin, Mullen 179; Mitchell Higgins, Loup City 179

13th — Jaxon Clouse, Friend 180; Alec Sindt, Franklin 180

15th — Holden Wetzler, Creighton 181; Derek Hammer, Franklin 181; Tanner Hays, Alma 181 and Trenton Ostransky, Fullerton 181

For the Wolfpack, sophomore Andrew Heithoff shot a 91 on the first day, then came back with a 92 on day two to finish the tournament with a score of 183.

Teammate Nick Heithoff posted a 94 on the first day, then improved his score on the second day, shooting a 91. He finished the tournament with a two-day score of 185..
