Grosserode, Baum Named Outstanding 4-Hers

The Antelope County 4-H Program celebrated its annual 4-H Achievement on Sunday, November 10 at the Fairgrounds in Neligh.
4-H’ers from the county were honored for their many accomplishments during the 2013 4-H year. The pot-luck meal was enjoyed by all in attendance.
There were several highlights of the 4-H year announced throughout the evening. One was the naming of Devon Baum, Elgin, and Alex Grosserode, Oakdale, as the Outstanding 4-H members for the 2013 4-H year.
Devon is the 18 year old daughter of Chris and Jeanne Baum. She graduated from Pope John Central Catholic High School in May 2013. She is currently attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, pursuing a major in Animal Science and a minor in Agricultural Communications. Devon is a 10 year member of the Way Out West 4-H Club, where she has been very active serving all offices, including President for the last three years. As President, she has lead meetings with a smile and encouraged younger members to participate and become leaders themselves. Devon has done exceptionally well in many 4-H project areas and represented Antelope County at the Nebraska State Fair in child development, clothing, quilt, modeling, livestock judging and Horse Quiz Bowl. At the county fair, Devon has won several awards in beef, horse, roping, clothing, modeling, quilt, leather, shooting sports, cookies, and cake decorating. This past year at the fair, Devon met a huge goal of her’s claiming Senior Champion Beef Showman and Large Animal Round Robin!
