Governor Heineman Touts EPS Reading Scores

It’s something to celebrate when the governor of the Great State of Nebraska singles out your school.

Governor Dave Heineman did just that last week, touting Elgin Public Schools as one of the best programs in the state for teaching its’ students how to read. The complete text of the governor’s remarks can be found on page four of this newspaper.

During the past year, Nebraska schools began to administer statewide reading tests. The results were recently released by the Nebraska Department of Education.

Elgin Public Schools was noted as one of the best small schools in the state, based on test scores, ranked with schools such as Bloomfield, Johnson-Brock, Cody-Kilgore and Rock County.
