Gerald Anthony Borer, son of Phillip Matthew and Bertha Christina Rose (Beierman) Borer was born on March 5, 1940 rural Boone County, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg. He attended school at St. John’s Catholic School, graduating in 1958.  Following his schooling Gerald worked for Curry Farms of Columbus, NE, before entering the United States Army in March 1959. He did his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, and was then stationed in Germany before being honorably discharged in 1961.
On October 2, 1961 Jerry was united in marriage to Susan Wilma Petsche at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville, NE. They lived outside of Albion for most of their married life where Jerry farmed and raised livestock. Although he and Susie had moved to Petersburg, Jerry was still active in the farm operation at the time of his death.
Jerry lived life his way! He loved farming, and enjoyed having coffee with the guys, gardening, and tinkering with his tractors. He liked watching baseball, flying kites, camping and dancing. He always had a couple of horses and enjoyed letting his grandchildren ride them. He also enjoyed watching rodeos, whether it was an annual trip to the Burwell Rodeo or watching the NFR on TV. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and was always traveling to support his grandchildren in their activities.
He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and his faith and prayer life were very important to him. He was also a 33-year member of AA.
Jerry is survived by his wife Susan of Petersburg; five children: Kevin (Jodie) of Albion; Andy (Annette) of Columbus; Colleen (Tim) Rossow of Newman Grove: Alan (Jackie) of Petersburg; Tracy (John) Beckman of Elgin; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Elmer (Rita) of Atkinson: his twin brother Harry of Omaha; one sister Lucille (Bernard) Kuhlman of Petersburg; sister-in-law Mary Ann Borer of Albion; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Ralph, Maurice, Richard, Ervin, and infant Francis; three sisters: Rosie, Sr. Julie Ann, and Delores; sisters-in-law: Marie, Dorothy, Arlene, and Miriam; and brother-in-law Jim Nelson.
