Five awarded American FFA Degrees

The National FFA Board of Directors approved the 2018 American FFA Degree recipients, and a record number are receiving the distinguished honor this fall including five from the Elgin FFA Chapter.
Only FFA members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA and made significant accomplishments in their supervised agricultural experiences are eligible for the American FFA Degree.
At the 2018 National FFA Convention & Expo, a record 4,255 FFA members will be recognized on-stage as American FFA Degree recipients.
The American FFA Degree is awarded at the National FFA Convention & Expo each year to less than one percent of FFA members, making it one of the organization’s highest honors. Requirements to earn the honor are lengthy.
In addition to their degree certificate, each recipient receives a gold American FFA Degree key.
Elgin FFA has five members that were approved near the end of July. These five members kept up on community service hours and their SAE after they graduated from high school in order to earn this honor.
Earning degrees were:
Kelsey Welding, daughter of Alan and Lisa Welding.
Karissa Dicke, daughter of Paul and Diane Dicke.
Justin Funk, son of Ron and  Angela Funk
Miles Schrage, son of Jerry and Tami Schrage.
Chad Bode, son of Charley and Shelley Bode.
Congratulations to them for their work and dedication to the FFA!
