Firefighters Respond To Truck Fire Friday

A truck hauling a car caught on fire shortly after 11 a.m. this morning. EVFD responded to the call at 11:15 and spent just over an hour on the scene. Truck owner, Ron Hoerle of Chambers, was near the Wheeler/Antelope county line on Highway 70 when he noticed a fire inside his cab. According to EVFD Chief Jim Kittelson, Hurley attempted to put out the fire himself. The FD quickly got the fire extinguished upon arrival and monitored the dry grass in the area to make sure no grass fires were smoldering. Kittleson believes the fire started in the electrical wiring and he stated that the truck was totaled.
