Fire Storage Building to be Delayed til Spring 2012

“Wait until next year.” It’s the words many sports teams speak to all who will listen when they come up short of a championship at the end of the season.

Those same words might well apply to the Elgin City Council who decided last week to ‘wait until next year’ to construct a new fire storage building.

Just two bids were received for the proposed new fire storage building. The low bid was submitted by Wingate Companies dba Crafts, Inc., out of Norfolk. Their base bid was $285,232 with a completion date of 120 days. The other bid received was from BD Construction out of Columbus whose base bid was $460,000 with a completion date of 183 days.
