The days are winding down for incumbents to file for re-election to elective office in Antelope County.
Seats up for election are for the mayor of Elgin currently held by William Evans, and two Council seats currently being held by Shirley Nissen (Ward One) and Ken Jochum (Ward Two). As of Tuesday morning, Nissen was the only one to file for re-election.
Seats up for election on the District #18 Board of Education are currently held by Steve Heithoff, Mary Bauer and Ryan Reestman. So far, only Heithoff has filed for re-election.
During the past week, Democrat LeRoy Kerkman filed for re-election to the Antelope County Board of Supervisors in District #7.
Republican Sandy Knapp of Neligh has filed for re-election as county treasurer.
In the sheriff’s race, Democrat Mark Duncan of Orchard has filed for election.
Incumbents have until Tuesday, February 16, 2010 to file for re-election. The filing deadline for non-incumbents seeking public office is March 1, 2010.
The primary election will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. The general election will be in November.

Peetz and Joe McNally, both of Neligh — Antelope County Airport Authority; Ron Rice and Jeff Carpenter of Neligh — Neligh-Oakdale Board of Education.
