Young Named NVMA ‘Outstanding Young Veterinarian’

Its January and that means awards season. One may be thinking of the Golden Globes which were recently held and the Oscars which are coming up. While not either of those two, the award in this story will be displayed as proudly as any Hollywood golden statue.
Elgin veterinarian Jeremy Young received quite the surprise last Thursday evening at the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association convention when he was named the “Outstanding Young Veterinarian” for 2013. The presentation was made during the banquet at their 118th annual convention.
When asked about the moment that he realized he was the winner, Dr. Young responded with his usual humor. “Probably when they said ‘and in 2007, he married his college sweetheart Kim’”, he answered. “Up to that point, it could have been any 2006 Kansas State graduate who grew up in Northeast Nebraska.”
His wife Kim had been in on the secret since before Christmas and managed to get his family there for the presentation, letting Young’s mom in on the plans.
