Students from Pope John Central Catholic and Elgin High School will compete Friday in the NSAA-sanctioned State Speech Contest.
Jenny Beckman, a junior at Pope John, will compete in Serious Interpretation of Prose Literature beginning Friday morning. She earned a trip to state by placing first in the D1-4 competition held at Wausa High School earlier this month.
Freshman Ethan Fischer and senior Danny Smith qualified for state by placing third in duet acting at the D2-3 district competition held at Ewing High School.
All three students will begin competition Friday morning.
The state meet will be held on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
