Petersburg Q125 Celebration is Here!

It’s a celebration which was years in the making. Now, it’s just days away.
The Petersburg Q125 Celebration will be held June 29, 30 and July 1, sure to draw visitors from near and far.
Activities get underway Friday afternoon with a Golf Hole-in-One contest.
Official opening ceremonies (Main St.) are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Activities to follow include a beard contest and Parade of Historic Attire; Talent/Variety Show, 7:30 p.m.; Sandy Creek Bluegrass Band/free barbecue, 4:30 to 7 p.m. Fireworks at dusk will conclude Friday activities.
On Saturday, June 30, a Fun Run will get things started at 7:45 a.m. Among the other activities that day are a co-ed sand volleyball tourney, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; lunch stand at park/downtown, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; garden tour and tour of homes, 9 a.m. to 12 noon; outhouse races, 10 a.m.; tractor cade, 10 a.m.; poker run (Knotty Pine), 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; style show at school gym, 1 p.m.; pie social, fire hall, 1-3 p.m.; golf hole-in-one qualifying, 1-3 p.m./finals 3:30 p.m.; old-time baseball game, 4 p.m.; and a hot air balloon display (park). Alumni banquets will be held at Werner Hall starting at 6 p.m. Other evening events are a Q125 auction, 8:15 p.m., followed by parade of historic attire; and a dance featuring The Rumbles dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Sunday activities will feature a breakfast at fire hall, 8 a.m.-12 noon; car show, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; worship service, Werner Hall, 10 a.m.; Army helicopter display (park); and a military fly-over, 1:30 p.m.
The Grand Parade will begin at 2 p.m., followed by kids games/contests, and announcement of winners.
Food booths and beer gardens will be available all three days. Clothing museum will be at St. John’s School. Rae Valley Heritage will have a display. A gun show will be open Saturday and Sunday (old grocery store), and there will be a carnival all three days.
Souvenirs will be available at the information center at the old grocery store on Main St.
