First Wind Turbine to be Erected Soon

Progress continues to be made on the Prairie Breeze Wind Energy farm south of Elgin. Cranes can be spotted southeast of Elgin as the first wind turbine readies to be constructed just south of 835 Road and 529 Avenue.
According to landowners who attended a recent meeting with Invenergy officials, the pouring of concrete bases for 118 wind turbines is more than 75 percent completed at this junction. Work has been underway with this phase of the project dating back to May.
County road intersections, where wind turbine sections need to go have been widened in many parts of the county and work continues.
In other developments, a house on land owned by the Elgin Area Development Corporation (EADC)appears to be ready to be moved off the property which will one day be the site of Prairie Breeze Wind Energy’s operation center.
