EPS, PJCC Graduation Ceremonies This Weekend

There are certain days in one’s life which they look forward to. A rite of passage marks the calendar. This weekend will be such a time for seniors at Elgin Public and Pope John Central Catholic High Schools.
It’s graduation weekend for the seniors at our two schools.
Elgin Public
On Saturday evening, seniors from Elgin Public will receive their diplomas. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in the school gymnasium.
Valedictorian of the class, as deter-mined by school officials, will be Ivy Prater. Saluta-torian of the class will be Brett Kinney. Each will give an address.
Chosen to give the ‘Charge To The Class’ will be Rev. David Kuhfal of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Conferring of diplomas will be District #18 School Board President Laurie Waterbury.
Members of the EPS senior class are Abbigayle Couch, Hannah Kerkman, Ivy Prater, Hunter Thramer, Bailey Carpenter, Travis Grosse-rode, Allison Koenig, Tiffany Vaughan, Stephanie Bode, Jordan Dietz, Brett Kinney and Madison Voborny.
Pope John Central Catholic
Thirteen seniors make up the 47th graduating class at Pope John Central Catholic.
They are scheduled to be awarded diplomas during commen-cement exercises for Pope John on Sunday afternoon, May 11.
The ceremony is sche-duled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
Chosen as class speaker was Casey Pelster.
Members of the senior class, in addition to Pelster, are Jake Eischeid, Taylor Knievel, Corin Pelster, Peter Starman, Mike Bennett, Brandon Funk, Blake Schrage, Jacob Ramold, Alex Pelster, Mallory Fangman, Allison Beckman and Brandi Baker.
Conferring diplomas will be Keith Schumacher, president of the Pope John School Board.
