EPS Gymnasium Floor – Out With The Old…

gym-floor-1-052115_135000Over the course of the past week, both students and adults have been working hard to remove the old wooden floor in the Elgin Public School gymnasium. Year’s of wear and sanding had put the floor on its “last leg” and the decision was made by the school board to replace the flooring earlier this year.  The school board was approached by Jeff and Randy Scholl about the old floor. The duo offered to remove the floor for free. The company providing the new flooring had quoted the school a cost of $6,500 for removing the old floor. In return for doing the removal and saving the school district money, the Scholls were given the old wood floor. They have several things that the old floor will likely be used for – including possibly selling portions of the floor.  Following cleanup of debris, prepping the area and installation on the new floor will begin.
