EPS Christmas Concert Set For Thursday Night

The Christmas concert at Elgin Public Schools is Thursday, December 15 at 7 p.m. It will be held in the gym.

It would be wonderful to have a big audience – there is surely some Christmas cheer to bring for all of you to enjoy!

The little children (Pre-school through 2nd grade) will be singing some familiar carols and some new songs with a slight twist. The concert band and high school choir will perform Christmas songs with something new and bouncy for all to hear. Grades three – six will be performing a musical. “Frosty’s First Adventure” tells the tale of Frosty and his friends ending up in Mr. Crabby’s yard! After spending the night in jail with the heater on, will Frosty be around to see Christmas?

The Elgin Public Music Department is supporting a fund drive for the Joplin Public High School during the Christmas Music Concert.

On May 22, 2011 a tornado completely destroyed the high school in Joplin, Missouri. The band, orchestra and choir room were lost. This includes all school equipment, instruments, uniforms and the music libraries. In addition, many of the music students lost their personal instruments to the storm. With the help of donations from supporters such as you we will be able to help the Joplin music department rebuild their program. The music department’s losses from the tornado totaled $3.7 million, including sheet music, instruments, electronics, risers and flats. The public school music students, in an effort to support the Joplin music program in their time of need, are asking for community support in raising funds.

There will be donation jars out before and after the Christmas music concert.

We understand everyone is extremely busy this time of year, but we hope you will please take a moment to get involved in this worthwhile project!

All proceeds going to benefit the Joplin High School music department.
