EPPJ Edges Niobrara-Verdigre

ELGIN — Eight players found their way into the scoring column as the Wolfpack claimed a 51 to 43 victory in the season opener Friday night.
Playing at St. Boniface gymnasium, the Wolfpack (1-0) trailed early, rallied to build a commanding lead then had to hold off a late charge by the Cougars to secure the victory.
“We got the jitters out of the way.  The guys have had a good couple of weeks of practice, a positive attitude. So I just let them work out of it a little bit,” Coach Scott Becker said after the game.
The Wolfpack were led in scoring by Regan Kerkman who finished with 10 points, making six of nine free throws. Kyle Heithoff had nine points while Austin Meis and Kyle Kallhoff each had six.
