ELGIN — Having lost five of their last six games, the Wolfpack boys basketball team turned things around Friday night with a one-sided 60 to 34 victory over Stuart.
Coach Scott Becker’s team outhustled and outshot the Broncos, taking a big lead early and never letting up in the game.
The game’s outcome was decided early in the first quarter as the Wolfpack put together a 13 to zero run to jump out to a 15 to 2 lead. The Wolfpack’s full-court pressure defense forced Stuart into numerous turnovers which Trent Hoefer turned into points. The senior had all 10 points in the run (four field goals and two free throws). The teams traded baskets the rest of the first half. A late basket by Nick Heithoff bumped the lead up to 28 to 14 at halftime.
