Elgin FFA Members Attend National Convention

Indianapolis was the setting for the 83rd National FFA Convention. The convention ran October 20–23. On Tuesday, Oct. 19, Devon Baum, Justine Meis, Corin Pelster, Tyler Childers, Alex Grosserode, Garet Schindler, Michael Braband, Shane Vanis, Mrs. Schwartz and Jeanine Baum left for the convention in the afternoon making their way to Davenport, IA for the night.

During their time out at the convention the members were able to take in many of the sights around Indy, meet many new friends, and eat at many “different” restaurants.

On Wednesday the students went to the first general session at Conseco Field House (where the Pacers play basketball).

During this session the National FFA Officers and the National FFA Advisor, Dr. Larry Case, gave a great introduction.

The FFA members were lucky this year to hear Dr. Larry Case as he will be retiring from his position this coming January.

The keynote speaker for the evening was Josh Shipp. He had a very positive message for the FFA kids as he shared his life experiences and told the kids to “not to be average”.  Later that evening the kids were treated to a concert in the Lucas Oil Stadium (where the Colts play football) by Easton Corbin and Lady Antebellum.
