Elgin Community Foundation Receives Over $8,000 in Donations

Before Christmas the Elgin Community Foundation initiated a letter campaign to encourage residents to make donations.

It didn’t take long before the donations started to come in.

According to foundation member Anne Parks, more than $8,000 in donations, $8,025 to be exact, has come in since the Elgin Area Endowment 2011-2012 Fund Drive was announced.

Seventeen residents and businesses have contributed so far to the fund drive. Topping the list of donors is Delbert and Marilee Niewohner of Albion. Other donors on the list are David & Joyce Sullivan of Elgin, the Bank of Elgin, Farm Credit Services of America, Peggy Schindler (in memory of Mark Schindler), Ray Dinslage (in memory of Leora Dinslage), Jack & Mardelle Blair, Dean’s Market, Elgin Insurance Services, Todd & Melissa Heithoff, Mike Schmitt Construction, Karen Eischeid (in memory of Paul Eischeid), Barbara Meyer, Jerry & Millie Mundorf, Elgin Pharmacy, Steven Boes, Ed & Anne Parks.

Persons wishing to make donations to the fund drive can do so by contacting any member of the foundation’s board of directors. Donations can also be mailed to Elgin Community Foundation, P.O. Box 345, Elgin, NE 68636.

Beginning in January 2012, the Antelope County Veterans Service office will become a part-time office.

According to County Service Officer Ronald J. Marshall, the new hours will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

The office will be closed on Mondays.

“We hope this will not be an inconvenience to the veterans of Antelope County,” he said.
