Easter Egg Hunt Date Announced

The Elgin Community Club made a decision last week which will please all youngsters anxious to search for Easter eggs. Saturday, March 19, has been selected as the date for the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Elgin City Park.
At last week’s club meeting, organizers announced that, in the case of bad weather, an indoor location has been secured. Should conditions force the egg hunt to move indoors, it will be held in the Elgin Public School “old” gym.
During the course of the meeting, club members took up the discussion of events to be held during the annual Vetch Days celebration in June.
Some of the activities planned are:
• Sunday, June 26 — There will be a tractor pull held. Organized by Bruce Clark last year, the tractor pull was a popular event and well-attended. Along with the tractor-pull, there will be inflatables for children to play on.
Bruce Clark indicated there will be two sleds for the tractor pull, one of them from the Northeast NE Pullers.
Also on Sunday, the local Young & Lively club will hold a special event — Sip-n-Dip at a site to be announced.
• Monday, June 27 — A BBQ will be held in front of the fire hall. As part of the day’s activities, Vetch Days organizers are hoping local firemen can compete in firefights with other area fire departments.
• Tuesday, June 28 — The annual Vetch Days Parade will be held that evening.
• Wednesday, June 29 — Back by popular demand, there will be a variety show.
Again this year, there will be a carnival during Vetch Days as a contract has been signed with Richard’s Amusements.
