District #18 Schedules Planning Session for Superintendent Search

The search for a new superintendent for School District #18 continues to move forward.

Meeting Thursday night, board members are in the process of determining what questions they would like to ask applicants for the position which will be vacated at the end of June by current superintendent Steve Dennis.

Board members will have an opportunity to share those questions they would like answers to, at a special board meeting to be held on Thursday evening, Jan. 26. Beginning at 5:45 p.m., the board is scheduled to meet with Marcia Redding, director of superintendent search services with the Nebraska Association of School Boards whom District #18 retained to aid them in the superintendent search. Another planning meeting is scheduled for February 8.

Applicants will submit information to Redding who will screen the applicants, then recommend individuals to be interviewed by the school board for the position. The NASB was selected last month from three firms to assist District #18 with its search.

Dennis submitted his resignation at the December school board meeting.

That was just one of the items which board members addressed during a meeting which lasted more than two hours.

Board members listened to two lengthy presentations during the meeting. Instructors Amy Selting and Jeanne Johnson gave a presentation on a 1 to 1 Computer Initiative they would like to see someday implemented by the board.
