District #18 Hires New Teacher, Wells Named AD

There will be a new fourth grade teacher next fall at Elgin Public Schools.
The District #18 Board of Education Wednesday night accepted ‘with regret’ the resignation of Meaghan Boyle. Superintendent Steve Dennis said Boyle, who is completing her first year of teaching at the school, is moving to South Dakota.
To fill the position, Dennis said administrators reviewed approximately 25 applications, interviewed five candidates and made the decision to hire Crystal Heithoff. Acting on the recommendation, the board approved their choice decision on a 4-0-1 vote (board members Steve Heithoff abstained and Ryan Reestman was absent from the meeting).
On anoth-er personnel matter, the board approved assigning additional duties to instructor Carlie Wells. On a vote of 4-0-1 (board member Kim Wells abstaining), Carlie Wells was approved to serve as activities director. The duties, held this year by Principal Adam Patrick, were moved to Wells since Patrick will be K-12 principal starting in the 2012-13 school year.
