Meeting Wednesday night, the District #18 Board of Education ratified an agreement for salaries for certified staff for the next two school years.
Superintendent Dan Polk said the board voted 5-0 (board member Steve Heithoff was absent) to approve a two-year agreement with the Elgin Education Association (EAA). He said Monday the EAA has yet to ratify the agreement, but seemed optimistic it wouldn’t be long before members approved it.
The agreement calls for a base salary of $31,500 for the 2014/2015 school year with insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield with a $750 deductible. For the 2015/2016 school year, the base salary would increase to $32,500, Polk said.
Included in the agreement is a clause whereby if insurance costs rise by 10 percent or more in either year, the EAA can reopen negotiations.
