Rose A. Reicks

1923 – 2010 

Rose Ann Reicks, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Starman) Beckman was born January 3, 1923 south of Elgin, Nebraska. 

She grew up in the Raeville area, receiving her education through the eighth grade. Rose went to Omaha where she worked as a nanny. Later she worked at the Bomber Plant during WW II. 

Rose married Ambrose Reicks on June 5, 1946 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville. The couple started their married life in Sutherland, Nebraska. In 1951 they moved to a ranch north of Spalding where they farmed and raised their children. 

After Ambrose’s death in 1997, Rose moved into Spalding for two years before moving to an assisted living facility in Norfolk in 2002. Soon thereafter Rose entered St. Joseph’s Care Center, Norfolk, NE. It was there where she passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the age of 87.

Surviving Rose are her four children: James & wife Beverly Reicks of O’Neill, NE and their children Corri & Greg Heiss and Erinn Reicks; David Reicks of West Point, NE and his children Cindy Reicks, Carrie & Brandon Essink and their children Kyler, Sena and Jack; Edward Reicks & wife Joyce of Pierce, NE. and their children Tim and Gina Reicks; Tom Reicks & wife Katie of Columbus, NE and their daughter Tammy Reicks; Karen Esch & husband Kevin of Columbus, NE. and their children Brandon and Michael; 6 sisters: Dorothy Reith of Minnesota; Martha Zadina of Omaha, NE; Sr. Bernadine Beckman of Winnebego, NE; Delores Olson of Kearney, NE; Mildred Fritz of Atkinson, NE. and Alice Powell & husband Jerry of Omaha; 3 brothers: Alfred Beckman & wife Mary Lou of Blaire, NE; Clarence Beckman of Colorado, Melvin Beckman & wife Mary Lou of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Charlene (Mrs. Walter) Beckman of Elgin, NE. along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ambrose; son Robert, daughter-in-law Suzann Reicks; brothers Edward & wife Phyllis and Walter Beckman; Brothers-in-laws Bernard Reicks, Lawrence Reicks, Mark Reicks, Joe Fleecs, Lawrence Keuter, Vern Burkes, Norbert Reith, Louis Zadina, Leonard Olson and Frances Fritz; sister-in-laws Barbara Burks, Rose Fleecs, Agnes Keuter, Catherine Reicks, and Thelma Reicks; and niece Jeanette Beckman.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 3, 2010, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding with Fr. Don Burhman officiating.
