Ralph Klein

Ralph V. Klein, 82, of Elgin, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church at Raeville, with Rev. Kevin Vogel and Rev. Christopher Onuoha officiating.
Interment followed at St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery, Raeville.

Ralph Valentine Klein, the son of Alphonse V. and Frances (Bueltel) Klein was born on June 1, 1934 at Raeville.

He received his education at Raeville, and was baptized and confirmed at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville. On February 7, 1957 Ralph joined the United States Army, and was honorably discharged on Feb. 6, 1959.

On Jan. 5, 1963 Ralph was united in marriage to Mary Ellen McNally at St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh.

The couple lived on a farm north of Elgin where they farmed and ranched.
Ralph grew organic corn, soybeans, small grain, and alfalfa for the last 35 years. Ralph was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh, serving on the parish council.
He also served on the Coop Board, District #106 School Board, Antelope County 4-H Board, was a member of the National Cattlemen’s Association, and was an usher at church.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen of Elgin; four daughters: Elizabeth “Lisa” Klein of Cairns, Australia; Dr. Kim (Mark Komisky) Klein of Baltimore, MD; Susan (Leon) Arens of Omaha, NE; Virginia “Gini” (Craig) Seier of Petersburg; two sons: Martin (Amy) Klein of Petersburg; Timothy (Alisha) Klein of Lincoln, NE; 15 grandchildren: Nicholas Komisky, Megan, Daniel, and Caroline Arens, Emily and Lauren Seier, Benjamin, Lucas, Jacob, Emma, and Samuel Klein, Olivia, Aiden, Raaf, and Diedrick Klein; one sister: Bernice Grundmeyer of Lamont, IA; along with many other relatives and friends.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons and an infant daughter; one brother: Eugene; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Lorraine (Joseph) Stuhr, Alma (Ben) Beckman, Stella (Vernol) Beckman, Genevieve (Wilfred) Starman, and Willis Grundmeyer.
