Philomena M. Reuss, 91 formerly of Elgin, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at St. Boniface Church in Elgin with Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating.
Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.huffmanlevander.com.

Philomena Mary Reuss, daughter of Louis Leo and Philomena Cecilia (Zacek) Rose, was born October 3, 1922 at Winner, S.D.
She moved with her family to Oregon before moving to Nebraska where she attended school in several different communities before graduating from Elgin High School in Elgin.
She moved to Elgin, IL where she worked at a watch factory.
On May 24, 1941, Philomena married Lawrence Ludwig Reuss at Elgin, IL. The couple returned to Elgin where she was a homemaker and raised their six children: Paul, Cecelia, Phyllis, Larry, Mary Jane and John.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and St. Boniface Christian Mothers. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, crocheting, needlework, playing cards and making rosaries for the mission.
Philomena is survived by her six children: Paul (Jule) Reuss of Ada, OH; Cecelia Skalak of Columbus, NE; Phyllis (Tom) Foland of Omaha, NE; Larry (Mary) Reuss of Neligh, NE; Mary Jane (Rodney) Vyff of Cheyenne, WY; John (Diane) Reuss of Weeping Water, NE; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence in 1991; one grandson Andrew Skalak; three sisters: Irene Rose, Angela Levulett, and Louise Cahoy; and one brother Joseph Rose.
