1939 — 2016
Marian R. Phipps, 76, of Omaha (formerly of Elgin), passed away Tuesday, January 19th at her home after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Marian was born on July 19, 1939, in Elgin, NE to John and Rose Baum.
She graduated in 1957 from St. Boniface High School.
Over the years, Marian worked as a Ward Clerk at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Norfolk and Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Omaha.
For over 20 years she worked at Cram Foreign Auto delivering parts.
Most importantly, Marian will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her strong faith and her generosity.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose Baum; sister, Elizabeth Kelly and husband Norman; brother-in-law, Clarence Schmitt.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Phipps; five children and two step-children, Carla (John) Schaffer of Norfolk, Tim (Chris) Carter of Norfolk, David (Jennifer) Phipps of Chandler, AZ, Eric (Laura) Phipps of Omaha, Kelli (Chad) Dumont of Omaha, Dave (Joni) Phipps of Columbus, NE and Sheryl Phipps of Norfolk.  She is also survived by sisters, Helen Schmitt, Marjorie (James) White, and Barbara (Jerome) Reicks; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Mass will be held Monday, February 15, at 10:30 a.m. at  St. John Vianney Catholic Church (5801 Oak Hills Dr.) in Omaha.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, February 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary Service at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel), (6505 S. 144th St.) Omaha.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to Catholic Charities or the Cancer Research Institute.
