Jerome W. Oberhauser, 86, of Lindsay, NE passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove.

Oberhauser was born on March 18, 1924 in Lindsay, NE. Parents were Anton and Elsie (Hamling) Oberhauser.

He attended Holy Family Schools.

Oberhauser served in the U.S. Army from September 1950 to August 1951. He was a rank corporal in the HQ Battery First Field Artillery. After completing his military service, he returned home where he farmed and fed livestock.

On August 20, 1957, Oberhauser married Lorene Selting at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, NE.

The couple lived on a farm north of Lindsay for many years before moving into town in 1985.

Among the organizations he was active in was the Lindsay American Legion Rotherham Post #261, and the Holy Family Knights of Columbus Council. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include wife Lorene of Lindsay, one brother Tony (Joan) Oberhauser of Bellevue, NE, two sisters Dorothy Schaefer and Betty (Dennis) Steiner both of Columbus, NE, two sister-in-laws Connie “Oberhauser” (Dale) Daigh of Bellevue, NE, and Joyce Temme of Petersburg, NE, and one brother-in-law Melvin (Pat) Selting of O’Neill, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents Tony and Elsie Oberhauser, brothers Andrew Oberhauser and wife Regina Oberhauser, Bill Oberhauser and Eugene Oberhauser, brother-in-law Louis and wife Irma Hagemann, Earl and wife Dolores Schulze, and Joe Temme, Sr.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay. Officiating was Father James F. Novotny. Pallbearers were Richard Steiner, Jerry Schaefer, Chris Loeffler, Steve Selting, James Temme and Tom Hagemann.

Burial was at Holy Family Cemetery. Military graveside ceremony was conducted by Lindsay American Legion Rotherham Post #261 and the Nebraska Army National Guard.

Preferred memorials are family choice.

Duesman Funeral Chapel of Humphrey, NE, was in charge of arrangements.
