Helen Schmitt of Wisner was recently informed of a death that may be of interest to fellow readers. Jeanne Stehly Sloan died peacefully in her sleep on August 12, 2008. Jeanne graduated from Elgin High School in 1942. She attended the University of Nebraska and St. Mary’s School of Nursing at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn.
She, and her husband Dr. Wyman Sloan, were residents of Atlanta.
Her parents were Dr Frank and Blanche Stehly, a dentist and longtime Elgin residents.
