Date Set for 2014 NE Nebraska Football Classic

The first-ever Northeast Nebraska All-Star Football Classic, which was held earlier in June, surpassed its expectations and is looking forward to bigger and better opportunities, according to Mike Fuehrer, Sports Development Manager for the Norfolk Area Sports Council.
“The Board of Directors realizes there are some tweaks that need to be made, but having sound sponsorships and 2,249 spectators for our first game sets the bar pretty high,’’ Fuehrer said. “It’s important to the Board of Directors that we announce next year’s date and game time before the start of the upcoming school year. We had football players set personal goals to play in the first All-Star Game before the start of their senior season. We think that will happen again.’’
Next summer’s football game will be played on Saturday, June 14, 2013 at 1 p.m., Fuehrer said. The game will again be played at Norfolk’s Veteran’s Memorial Field. In fact, the City of Norfolk and the Board of Directors have pledged to keep the All-Star game in Norfolk for at least the next five years.
