Council Moves Forward on Trees and Tables

Meeting Monday night, the Elgin City Council gave the go-ahead to proceed with checking trees hanging above highways and sidewalks to make sure they are not hanging too low.

City Street Superintendent Donnie Poulsen, Jr., was instructed to, in the near future, inspect trees. Property owners will then, at a later date, be notified their trees need to be trimmed. If the trees are not trimmed by the specified date, then the City will hire an outside firm to come and trim the trees with the cost assessed to the property owner.

The other major item on a light agenda, the meeting concluded in 40 minutes, involved picnic tables and park benches.
