Council Approves Building Permit for CVA Bin Project

The Elgin City Council passed an ordinance Monday night, clearing the way for Central Valley Ag to construct two large grain storage bins.
Suspending the required three readings, the council approved Ordinance #629 to vacate the west six feet of First Street between Maple and Pine Streets. In addition, a building permit was approved for the construction of the two grain bins. The permit allows for CVA to commence with construction.
Stan Kallhoff gave council members a timeline of how construction will take place. He said deep foundation work at the site should begin, weather permitting, sometime next week. He said First Street will have to be closed during the day for cement truck traffic, but the street will be open at night.
