Work is underway on construction of a substation to handle the energy to be generated by a new wind farm being constructed south of Elgin.
Alissa Krinsky, director of communications with the Chicago-based Invenergy corporation, confirmed last week that work has begun on the substation for the Prairie Breeze Wind Eneergy LLC wind farm now under construction in Antelope and Boone Counties.
The substation for the transmission line which will run from south of Elgin to a site near Meadow Grove will be located on the northeast corner of the intersection of 835th Road and 523rd Avenue.
