Community Clean Up Day To Be May 10

It’s time to start thinking about ways each Elgin resident can do to their part to clean up the community. The annual Elgin Community Cleanup Day has been changed to Saturday, May 10. The date was chosen due to the availability of dumpsters used by so many to dispose of unwanted items.
Cleanup activities, for those wishing to have metal items hauled away, will begin Friday evening, May 9. Jerry Finkral has said he will pick up metal items that night. These items should be placed along the curb no later than 5 p.m.
Guidelines residents are asked to follow on May 10:
Items which will not be allowed at the dumpster — materials from torn down buildings, fence posts, tires, or cans of paint (only dry paint cans will be accepted). TVs should only be placed in the rolloff dumpster. All lumber is to be placed off to the side of the dumpster. Also, all scrap metal should be placed off to the side.
